Changes to the Affinity Suite of Programmes?

Has anybody seen or been following the recent news about Affinity Photo plus their other programmes? It seems that Serif were bought out by another company (Canva?) early last year. On October 1 st they stopped all sales of the software pending a big announcement to be made 30 th October. Speculation runs 2 ways, either it is V3 but with much more AI content or it is V3 but with a subscription model as Adobe.
Anybody heard anything else or has other knowledge?
For myself if it goes to subscription I will continue using V2 as I have bought a number of ebooks and a course which I intend to try over the winter. If that all fails I may try Darktable instead. As 90% of my work is darkroom I have no wish to invest more in something I rarely use.

I have been watching as well. I use Photo and Publisher on Windows and Apple with a V2 licence. I had teaser emails about an impending announcement but nothing concrete. The buy-once model is a prominent strap line in their advertising so I assume this will remain. They released an update a few months back that starts to introduce A! in the form of better object selection so I would think that will be developed and there will be a rebranding exercise but I guess we will have to wait and see. Serif has continued to support V1 so let's hope that if there is a V3 they will continue that fine tradition with V2.

I'm well cheesed off if it goes subscription model, I went yesterday to buy Publisher and of course all the links have gone.
Roll on October 30th

It has to be said I do like publisher and find myself using it, in conjunction with photo, on pretty much every photo that I edit. It is that synergy which sets it apart from photoshop in my view. Let's hope they don't mess with it.

Hopefully. I'm playing with creating a photo book and my daughter has just given us a Cricut cutter

The first announcement has been made today. The new version of affinity is a single application integrating the three existing programs of photo, publisher and designer. It is completely free of charge to everybody (although there is a subscription to add AI features) and available to download now. Free upgrades are promised for the future.

Time marches on.

Not sure whether to take the plunge just yet, probably will at some point. Did you find the user interface familiar?
